2026 Referendum

2026 Referendum

Notice is given of a referendum on a proposed academic boycott of certain Israeli institutions. The referendum will be held concurrently with the 2026 SRC elections, with polling open from 22–24 September. The referendum question is as follows:

'The University must adopt an academic boycott policy against Israeli institutions complicit in apartheid and genocide and immediately end all exchange relationships with Israeli universities including Tel Aviv University, Technion and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The University must also end all research partnerships with weapons companies supplying Israel. The SRC will pursue this policy and support the struggle for Palestinian freedom.'

A debate has been held in the Election Edition of Honi Soit (week 6 edition), published on the 8th September:

NOTE: Expressions of interest to contribute to the referendum debate closed 11:59pm Tuesday 1 September 2026.
