The next Safer Communities Meeting has the history and future of the Walk Service as a follow-up action item. In the meantime, we made conversation with a security guard that was walking on Eastern Avenue who was unaware the service had been ceased. This will be raised at the next meeting.
Our Body Our Choice March:
On June 9 between 11:30-3pm at Hyde Park in Sydney there will be a Pro-Choice March; Our body Our Choice. This is an inclusive event-ANYONE is welcome. The fact is abortion remains a crime in NSW under the NSW Criminal Code (Crimes Act 1900). Abortion is an offence that in punishable for up to 10 years in NSW. The pro-choice movement is in the interest of giving all women, regardless of their race, socioeconomic status or religion bodily autonomy. The march comes at a timely point as states in the US have introduced strict abortion bans. The march organisers are looking for an Auslan translator so if you wish to volunteer let us know.

Update on Women’s Space in Manning:
The Women’s Space on level 1 of Manning House is undertaking some renovations. We look forward to continuing to collaborate on suggestions to make the room a more inviting, safe and practically useful space for USYD students. If you have any creative ideas on how to renovate the space to tailor it to YOU and your needs- let us know.
