Consultation meetings: Tuesdays 1-2:30pm at the SRC office.
Students' Representative Council, Sydney University
Hi! We are your 2019 Women’s Officers: Gabi Stricker-Phelps and Crystal Xu. We are here to engage with, listen to and represent all USYD women students.
Please speak to us about any issues or ideas you have. We are also seeking people to work collaboratively together with us on projects. As Women’s Officers we sit on committees such as the Student Consultative Committee – Safer Communities Advisory Group. We strongly believe in accountability and transparency so in our consultation sessions we will have information to provide you on the contents of these meetings and updates on any of our work.
We will be running consultation sessions every week from 1-2:30pm on Tuesdays in the SRC @ Level 1, Wentworth Building G01, City Road, Darlington. We are also available for meetings throughout the week via an appointment- just email firstname.lastname@example.org or FB message USYDwomen2019.
In USYD’s most recent annual report there were approximately 19,554 women enrolled as undergraduate students out of a total 34,012 undergraduate students… that is more than 55%! This year we want to build a greater sense of community within our strong USYD cohort of women because if we are serious about ending gender inequality in the workforce, we must support one another.
If you would like to join our Facebook community page go to USYDWomen2019. This page intends to build a sense of community between women on campus and become an ecosystem of support because… empowered women empower women.
Other projects we will be working on this year include: provision of free sanitary items in the SRC office, running entrepreneurship and mentoring panel events, organising women’s events and social lunches and working with sexual harassment officers on tackling the issue of sexual assault and harassment on campus.
We will be developing a website to shine a light on the women of USYD by exploring insights, inspirational stories and experiences of active, busy and thoughtful students. We are looking for a TEAM of people who would like to get involved in this project. If you are interested in:
Women’s issues, experiences, education, health etc…
Content sourcing and production
Journalism and writing
And/or are just energetic, enthusiastic and wanting to get involved
